The OA doesn't abide by any strict TV series formula either. The opening credits don't appear until 57 minutes into the show. It was written like an eight-hour film, with a novelistic approach. You don't meet some of the main characters until a third of the way through.

I registered for a regular old baby nail clipper, figuring, I know how to clip nails, how hard could it be? At least for me, it wasn't that it was necessarily difficult, but scary - newborns are squirmy, and their nails are so tiny, that I was terrified to go near them with a clipper. Not to mention that newborn nails grow surprisingly fast and need to be trimmed often, lest your Wolverine-in-training scratch themself in the face. This battery-powered electric nail clipper is a lifesaver: It has three different baby age-specific filing attachments (and some adult ones too), a light so you can see what you're doing, and two speeds in each direction. You can even file away while your baby is sleeping (weird but true, at least in my case). 

If there's one thing history teaches you, it's cause and effect. It is so easy to end up homeless in a couple of steps. And it's incredibly difficult to fulfil your potential if you don't have a home.

The Conservative MP for Sevenoaks - who has been working with Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries on the dangers of social media in the Online Safety Bill - has already successfully introduced a private member's Bill to ban cosmetic Botox and fillers for under-18s. 

He said the government focused in 2020 and 2021 on lowering electricity prices by eight per cent, investing $10 billion a year in childcare, and providing $30 billion of tax relief for low and middle income earners. 

In reality, once your baby arrives, the products you spend hours agonizing over aren't going to be as important as you think they are. Babies really only need a few things (food, clothes, diapers, a safe place to sleep), and every baby is indeed different, with different preferences. Are any of these items truly necessary? No. That being said, here are 10 baby purchases that ended up being key to my parenting journey, that I wish I had known to register for instead of buying in a panic on Amazon in those early weeks. 

The first series, penned by Simon Nye of Men Behaving Badly fame, aired last autumn with the final episode attracting five million viewers who watched to find out if Mariette would leave for Paris alone. 

I bought that white jacket when I was about 30 because I suddenly thought, this is ridiculous, I've got to sometimes buy new clothes.
The first time I wore the jacket was for the wrap party of the TV series I'd been doing. A colleague fell over and cut her wrist on a glass and I took her to hospital. She was fine, but there was a lot of blood and my jacket was ruined. I took that incident as a sign that I shouldn't have bought it.

Baby Einstein

What do you actually do with a newborn all day, when they aren't eating or sleeping (which, to be fair, is most of the time)? This Baby Einstein mirror may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, but my baby loved it - giving her a way to look at herself and at some high-contrast patterns made tummy time a lot easier for us in the early days. She also liked looking at the high-contrast animal cards, which would make her smile. 

The 37-year-old also revealed how she has personally seen the disastrous effects such procedures can have when they go wrong, including the case of one 15-year-old girl who had fillers and ‘her lips blew up'.

I started during lockdown. A bit late, some would say given my age, but at least I've started. In the past, my income has been unpredictable and it has not been easy for me to plan ahead. It always felt like a welcome surprise when money came in. Also, I had other financial priorities.

Evenflo

My lactation consultant recommended these bottles as the most similarly shaped to a human nipple, and best for helping improve baby's latch. They're easy to clean and pack in a cooler. Plus, they're a steal compared to the far more pricey Comotomo bottles I had on my registry. While my baby didn't seem to have a real preference for either, the Evenflo were the ones we stuck with.
