Shane Warne's children Brooke, Summer and Jackson (pictured with their dad in London) have shared heartwarming tributes to the cricketing legend and put on a united front in the weeks since his tragic death

Mr Ranganathan made clear his allegiance to the West Sussex town - whose other notable residents include England manager Gareth Southgate and Crown actress Erin Doherty - by calling his 2018 autobiography Straight Outta Crawley: Memoirs Of A Distinctly Average Human Being.

'He has managed to find a space there to build his dream home, though it is rather bigger than his childhood home in one of the poorer areas of Crawley. It's a lovely story of rags to riches which Romesh has worked very hard for.'

The comedian, who replaced Anne Robinson as the host of The Weakest Link, has previously spoken about his impoverished upbringing, including the challenges faced by his family when their home was repossessed after his accountant father was jailed for two years for fraud.

Guests were invited to wear St Kilda scarves and a pair of them were draped across Warne's coffin as it was driven around the oval to the sound of the 1970s Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes hit The Time of My Life.

Jackson, 22, proved yet again that he was prepared to step up for his family in his father's absence as he led his sisters Brooke, 24, and Summer, 20, to a waiting chauffeur and liaised with security at St Kilda Football Club where the funeral was held.

The Melbourne park, which is normally open and available for kids to play on when there aren't games scheduled, has become a fortress surrounded by security in blue uniforms and patrolling police officers.

The gathering featured a who's who of the cricketing world, with retired Australian Test captains Mark Taylor, Allan Border and Michael Clarke attending along with former England skipper Michael Vaughan.

The comic, whose mother appeared regularly in his BBC travel series Asian Provocateur, was previously a maths teacher and head of sixth form at Hazelwick school in Crawley, where he had also been a pupil.

Tricking us into dividing ourselves up into splinters so that we would never unite into a powerful rod,' before adding 'it breaks my heart to see you like this' and sharing the 'impact' his work has had on him.
